From London comes Coign of Vantage, a painting by the late Victorian artist Sir Lawrence Alma-Tadema. The painting was completed in1895 at the artist's home in England following a trip to Paris. Coign of Vantage is a small work with a breadth of roughly twenty-five centimeters. Its height measures at almost eighteen. The small size of this rectangular piece provides an interesting perspective for the viewer who is allowed to peek just over the small island below the head of the woman who is peering over the side.
